Spring Break!

Some college kids party it up in Miami for Spring Break. Others take a Caribbean Cruise. (Hello Chocolate-Covered little sister!)

But I am the luckiest girl of all, because I get to spend Spring Break this year with the cutest kids ever: my cousins!

Hmmm, something’s wrong.  They look too tame in the picture.

This is more like it. 🙂

I’m definitely not the spring break partying type. I’m at home starting my blog, doing PT for runner’s knee, and waiting to hear back from colleges. Were you stressed out during the college process? It’s kind of hard to imagine you as stressed.

And gosh, I’m surprised you haven’t asked us our bra sizes. It’s a totally socially acceptable question, Katie.

(hopefully my sarcasm is detectable on the internet…)

I have 27 cousins, 5 of us were born within 5 months of each other so that was nice at school, we are all a very similar age so school holidays were always fun too! 🙂

haha i’m sure the creepers will come out for the formspring questions. bra size?? what’s next.. i’m scared LOL.

your cousins are ADORABLE! your family has killer geners 🙂

on my dad’s side i don’t have any 🙁 but i have 7 on my mom’s but they’re all older and live far away. you’re so lucky!!

i went on a 7-day cruise last week for spring break! SO FUN! totally out of my comfort zone (lots of indulging on pina coladas, beer, icecream, pizza and dancing every night) but totally worth it. you only live once i guess 🙂

I don’t have an official spring break (since I’m not a student), but I’m taking tomorrow off from work and going to Chicago with Lucas! Can’t wait!

My cousins are all way younger and I feel more like their “cool aunt”. My fav cousin is 10 years my junior, but she’s a lot of fun and I <3 her so much! 🙂

I love reading your formspring answers, but don't worry — I'm not the one asking super personal questions! I tried to make my own account so you can who I am but I think the site hates me, lol. I'm glad you like my Chocolate-Covered Fun Run idea…I would sign up in a heart beat!

    Andrea:
Sheesh, you really ARE like my sister! (She’s on a cruise right now)
Andrea, your sweet comments always make me smile 🙂

    Jessica:
LOL that fun run question was you??? I thought that was the best idea ever! In fact, I haven’t stopped thinking about it! Now I want to expand the idea to having them feed the runners chocolate cake at the end. You know, instead of the usual bagel and banana spread? 🙂
P.S. The site hates me too. Often, it makes me sign in multiple times, tells me the server is down, doesn’t let me on at all, doesn’t let me answer questions… so it’s not just you!

  6. Katie says:

Oh my gosh that poor substitute!!! Ahahah, that story is hilarious. As a fromer sub, I would have been mortified (although, I wouldn’t have put myself in that situation…how did an 8 year old know what a virgin was anyway??!)

Your cousins are adorable. I have cousins all my age – they were my best friends growing up. 🙂

  7. Danielle says:

Ok, so I’m going to sound like a TOTAL creeper…but I read all your formspring questions and was shocked at some of the ones you got lol. I just thought it was interesting because I can relate to the whole vegan/runner/college thing.

One person asked if you had osteoporosis? haha WHAT

    Katie:
Oh he was a pretty naughty boy!!

I have two first cousins and one older brother and we’re stair-step ages. My brother is one year older than my girl cousin, she’s one year older than I am, and I’m one year older than my boy cousin. 🙂 The whole family has always had dinner together every Sunday night, and until I was about eleven or twelve, my Grandad would take the four of us kids out on an outing every Sunday – to the pool, or the movies, or the park, or the beach, or one of his workplaces (he was the general manager of a cheese factory and owned a confectionery and soft drink factory — how lucky were we, hee?). He even kept a huge plastic bag of coins in the car (nicknamed the “slush fund”) that we were allowed to take huge handfuls from to buy lollies, chocolate and cherries to eat while we were out. Just to compound the healthy-ness of the day, we usually stopped for lunch at KFC and ate it at the beach or the wharf. It was awesome, actually, having such great grandparents and cousins close to my age, although it’s funny, I used to feel like the odd one out regardless, so you’re not alone in feeling excluded at times! 🙂 My girl cousin was very much a tomboy and I’ve always been the most adamant girly girl, so she got along much better with the boys than I did. I still see them most weekends and things have evened out a bit now that we’re adults!

That makes me think of this girl in elementary who always knew more than the rest of us about that kind of stuff. She told us about flipping someone off, but I didn’t believe her that it was dirty. At the dinner table that night, I held up my middle finger and said, “Kim said this was dirty.” My mom was wide-eyed and said we would talk about it later. And we’re going to LA for spring break – sooo excited about the restaurants!

  11. Kelly says:

Lol about the bra size question- and the virgin one!
Um…Mounds bar pancakes. That sounds like the most amazing thing EVER.

  12. virginia says:

hey! i see you always use artisana coconut butter and i have been *dying* to try some but where can i buy some? only online?

  13. Chocolate-Covered Katie says:

    virginia,
Depending on where you live, you might be able to find some at a local health food store or Whole Foods. I get mine at Whole Foods.

  14. ecogrrl says:

spring break? what’s that? oh that week that all the moms take off from work. gotcha. 🙂

i am the oldest grandchild on my dad’s side and never had strong relationships with any of them, and wouldn’t know cousins on my mom’s side if i saw them on the street. neither parent (mine divorced when i was 4) encouraged strong relationships with siblings and cousins (yet act shocked when i’m not tight with my own siblings…what-ever).

ironically? when i was 23 i met a new cousin – my aunt had given her up for adoption when she was in high school and i was a toddler and i never even knew she existed. she found us and i met her in 1997 and it was soooo cool. the first person in my family that i actually look like. and unlike everyone else, we are very close. happily ever after 🙂

  15. jqlee says:

You’re gorgeous girl. You have such nice skin, so flawless and smooth looking. For spring break I’m not going anywhere per se. I’m just excited to see my family and boyfriend at home!

  16. Lily @ Lily's Health Pad says:

You can definitely tell you’re related to your cousins. You really do look alike!
