Cake Batter Pizza?

From what I can tell, a successful kids’ birthday party has three components:

1. Presents.
2. Pizza.
3. And cake. Emphasis on the cake!

Why not save time and energy by combining two of the three?

Cake Batter Pizza
(Serves 1-2)

  • 70 grams (1/2 cup) flour (I used two parts spelt flour to one part coconut flour. White flour or whole wheat pastry flour work too. You can also make a Gluten-Free Version.)
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • sweetener (such as 2 tbsp sugar or 2 nunaturals stevia packets)
  • 100 grams (a little under 1/2 cup) water or other liquid, such as juice or milk of choice
  • 32g (2 tablespoons) coconut oil, or applesauce for a fat-free version (or try using pumpkin, canola oil, mashed banana, or even baby food!)
  • 1/8 tsp salt
  • optional, for a buttery “cake” flavor: 1/4 tsp butter extract (It’s vegan)
  • A few handfuls of sprinkles

Cook in an un-preheated oven at 400F for 14-15 minutes or until done. Leave out 10 minutes before cutting around the sides and then transferring to a plate. (Note: be sure to spray your cake pan. If you have trouble with a pizzert that sticks to the pan, try putting it onto a sprayed or oiled baking sheet instead, and use a rolling pin to flatten.)

I made this for my little friend who loves spwinkles (her way of saying “sprinkles”). Hanging out with little kids gives you the chance to act like a little kid, yourself. And if–by the end of the night–you’ve not been “spwinkled” out, you can always chase down your dessert pizza with:

cake batter milkshake

The famous Cake Batter Milkshake.

Do you like pizza?
What are your favorite toppings? Aside from sprinkles, of course!

        hi Katie!!

so i just tried it – and the frosting (i only had coconut oil not coconut butter and it worked deliciously!! it was kind of buttery and very tasty and i added a splash of vanilla soy milk to get it going in my blender!) and i absolutely LOVED it! i’ve been on a bit of a cleanse lately – mostly just eating all the good stuff, tons of veggies, smoothies, with reasonable grains etc. and nuts and seeds etc. so this was just the treat i needed! hehehe :oD

thank you so much ! cant’ wait to try more of your recipes :oD

Thank you soooo much! My son will have this on his first birthday!!!!!
    I am excited!
But your frosting looks alot ‘whiter’ than in your recipe you liked to. Did you do anything different?

    Wendi

    1. Chocolate-Covered Katie says:

Hey Wendi! Let me know how he likes it!! 🙂
As for the frosting, the difference is probably that I omitted the cinnamon this time. Also, the photo was taken in very bright light, so it might be a little washed out. lol

I just made the pizzert this morning. I used 2 tbsp banana, cinnamon, and chocolate chips with peanut butter on top for an Elvis-like variation. I also used 1/4 cup oatmeal and 1/4 cup whole wheat pastry flour. It was really good, but I didn’t have a small enough pie pan so I just put it on a cookie sheet. It reminded me of a thick pancake and I threw in some sprinkles for good measure, I ate 3/4 of it though 🙂 Thanks for all the delicious recipes.

    1. Chocolate-Covered Katie says:

Update: My son loved the cake! I doubled the recipe I believe and used 3/4 coconut flour to 1/4 part lentil/quinoa mix. Its what I had and it turned out great. I left out the sprinkles and did the frosting with coconut oil and it was delish!
    Thanks again 🙂

    1. Chocolate-Covered Katie says:

What’s the brand of sprinkles that you use? All the brands/kinds I found either had 1) Hydrogenated fats, 2) Artificial colors, or 3) All of the above

    1. Chocolate-Covered Katie says:

Hi Kathy! You can actually find a brand called “Let’s Do Organic” at Whole Foods in the baking section. It is completely organic and free of trans fats :).

      1. Kathy says:

Oh, thank you! ^^ I’ll surely have to check it out!

  12. Ally's Oma says:

I love it, I love your site! I finally found some things I can eat. I’m 55 and have been a chocolate/sweets freak all my life. Then my adrenals crashed, I had to stop all sugar & coffee, then found out I’m allergic to eggs, milk/dairy, flour, lots of veggies (I can have cocoa, but not the stuff that makes it taste good)….and the list goes on, and on, and….but I can eat the pizzert and even make it for my Sunday School kids for a good snack! Thank you so much…..I’m so grateful I found your recipes.

    1. Chocolate-Covered Katie says:

Aww wow, your sweet comment made me SO happy! I am so glad you found me too.

      Chocolate hugs!!! 🙂

  13. Jen says:

    Hi Katie!
I love all your recipe ideas and cannot wait to start to bake them!!! Keep up the great work! 🙂

What kind of butter extract do you use? Is that considered artificial? I ma not familiar with it!
    Thanks so much!!

    1. Chocolate-Covered Katie says:

I found one by Wilton, and I emailed the company who assured me it’s vegan. But yeah, it’s not exactly all-natural! I figure it’s a tiny amount… and I have only used it once or twice in a year ;).

  14. Katie Campbell says:

This was beyond amazing. It tastes just like cake!! P.S. I love your blog and all your recipes! I live in Fort Worth and I think you need to open a bakery so I can drive up to Dallas and buy all your food! :]

    1. Chocolate-Covered Katie says:

LOL I would be a very bad bakery owner… I’d eat all the chocolate before it got served ;).

  15. Aly says:

I cannot eat starches or grains due to severe damage to my intestinal tract. I was wondering, do you think you could use coconut or almond flour or even pea/bean flour in place of the flour? I would have to use stevia and coconut oil in the batter (cannot tolerate sugar) Let me know any suggestions because this looks amazing.

    1. Chocolate-Covered Katie says:

Yup, see the “gluten free version” link for coconut lour 🙂

  16. Olivia says:

Hey Katie I think the breakfast pizzas look amazing and really tasty! I want one! But whenever I try to make one mine doesnt look anything like yours 🙁 It is all flopply and rubbery any suggestions? I only have self raising flour which might be the problem but is there anything I can do?
