What if I told you this creamy dessert in front of you is actually healthy chocolate mousse:

This velvety chocolate mousse is so rich and so thick that anyone who tries it will swear it must be full of heavy cream and calories.
But surprisingly, it’s not at all!
See those two chocolate-filled glasses?

I ate them both.
Joey doesn’t share food.
Katie doesn’t share chocolate.
What food do you think is too good to share? Brownies are too good to share! And chocolate fudge pie! I also like to have my own coconut butter so I can eat it straight from the jar. And now this rich chocolate mousse.
Way too good to share…

Healthy Chocolate Mousse
(Serves 2-4)
- 6 oz Mori-Nu silken-firm tofu (Click for a Soy-Free Chocolate Mousse Recipe)
- 1/2 tsp cocoa powder
- 3/4 cup chocolate chips, or 1 and 1/4 chocolate bars in the flavor of your choice (3-oz bars)
- 1/2 tsp pure vanilla extract
- 1Â tbsp milk of choice
- 1/16 tsp salt
- pinch uncut stevia OR 2 tbsp sugar or sweetener of choice
Melt the chocolate, either on the stove or in the microwave. Then throw everything into a Magic Bullet or food processor and blend until super-smooth. (I used a Magic Bullet. If your food processor is really big, or if you’re using a blender, it might be a good idea to double the recipe in order for the contents to blend smoothly.)

I just made this today and WOW! Kicked my chocolate craving right in the you know what!! What’s more, I am still satisfied, 2 hours later and not looking for snacks as I often do in the late afternoons! I am not a vegan, heck I’m not even a vegetarian, but I do appreciate the wonderfully healthy and importantly, DELICIOUS recipes. Cannot thank you enough for all the wonderful (and EASY) recipes. You are helping me maintain my healthy lifestyle and not be cranky and mean because I’m missing out on chocolates and sweets! Thank you Katie!
Just made it and ….Yummy! I’m sure it will be better chilled. I used the immersion blender, the regular one didn’t work. And I added the whole 12 oz of Tofu and just had to add 1 extra T. of milk. I left out the agave nectar as I felt it was sweet enough with one bar of Baker’s German sweet chocolate bar.
Thank you
Hi Katie! I just made your Chocolate Chocolate Chocolate Mousse and my husband and I both loved it. Of course I didn’t tell him how it was made until after he tried it and gave me his comments. He said it was the most chocolatey mousse he’s ever had and he really liked it. He was surprised when I said it had tofu in it… as a matter of fact, he made me repeat it three times before he believed me!! Thank you for a wonderful recipe, I can’t wait to try your other ones!!
I made this last night only I blended a handful of frozen raspberries in there as well and let it thicken up in the fridge over night. It was incredible! I tried using a recipe with silken tofu once before unsuccessfully so I was a little skeptical, but I shouldn’t have been!
Hi, Katie! I had never ate, either bought tofu! But now I did to prepair this mousse! 🙂 Therefore I am not sure about the quantity… don’t know what would be 1/2 of the package you mentioned, as I live in Italy and the products are different. But I got a package of 250g. Is it enough?? Thank you!!
Hi! 🙂
250 g = 8.81849 oz
So it’s a little more than you need.
I just made this for dessert tonight, and I was really impressed with this recipe! I have always loved chocolate mousse, but I’ve been cutting back on all the usual sweets and looking for healthy alternatives. Thanks so much for sharing…I love your blog and can’t wait to try even more of these amazing recipes. 🙂
Hi Katie,
Love your site. The recipes look great and love to hear what you have to say. I made your chocolate chocolate chocolate mousse and it tastes great! I used a squirt of liquid stevia in it as a sweetener and it was really good. BUT I couldn’t seem to make it smooth enough. The texture seemed kind of gritty even though I blended it with a hand blender for several minutes. I don’t use tofu that often and I had mine thawed from a frozen state, could that be the reason?
Looking for ward to making more of your recipes,
Michelle
Yup, it definitely changes the texture. Also, get mori-nu slik-firm if you can. And be sure to only use the oz amount called for in the recipe, not a whole package.
What kind of chocolate chips do you use? I came up with more calories than you did and figured it must be the chocolate chips I used. It’s awesome though! Thanks so much!
Nope, regular chocolate chips calculated. Probably the tofu. Mori Nu has less.
This stuff is SO GOOD!!! I made this the first time with another brand of tofu and it was a sorry, thick, gritty mess. I tried again with the Mori-Nu Silken Firm and it came out perfectly smooth and rich and did I mention SO good? This is my favorite new mousse. I like it much better than the traditional recipe. Thanks so much! I love your site.
O yumm!! Can I use extra firm tofu? (thats all I have in the frig right now!)
I’ve not tried it, but I *think* others have… be sure to just use 12 oz though, not a whole package! And drain really well! The mori nu has less of an aftertaste because it’s not water-packed.
Thanks Katie! Maybe I’ll just wait then and grab some at the store tomorrow 🙂 I haven’t cooked with tofu very much so I’m just learning!
