Remember how I mentioned I was going to a party on Tuesday and I’d write more about it later? Welcome to later!
The party was for a group, called Circle of Friends, that pairs children with special needs with a buddy and plans fun events. This past Tuesday’s event was a karaoke and dance party. Since I didn’t ask permission to post most of the kids’ pictures, you don’t get to see the huge smiles on their faces… but believe me, everyone had a terrific time.
I didn’t show up empty-handed. (Do I ever go to a party empty-handed?) The yellow sheet cake I baked and decorated was gone almost before I set it down on the table!
Here’s a pic of me, with my favorite friend 🙂

love the blog, keep ‘em coming! if you’re ever not in the mood to cook, i found a cool company that you should look up…vegin’ out, they’re called. They deliver a week of vegan meals…I know they deliver out her in California, I’m not sure about anywhere else, but I thought you might wanna check them out…www.veginout.com. have a good one!

That sounds like such a great way to spend a Tuesday evening! Karaoke+kids+cake=great party. Anyway, I was wondering what recipe you use for your frosting–not only is it strikingly blue, but it looks like the perfect consistency for decorating! You are such a pro!
Aww that cake is so cute!
That’s really cool that you volunteer there.
The cake looks great!
Thanks Brian, I’ll check it out.
That cake is AMAZING! I dare say it is your best decorating feat yet…
And please tell me that you sang your heart out at karaoke!
P.S. I like the part where you wrote, “Welcome to later!”
You decorate the cutest cakes!! I am sure it was much appreciated.
Awww… I work with special needs kids and believe me; you will get SO MUCH out of your friendship with them, they are indeed VERY VERY special treasures.
Oh, my gosh. You are so cute.
Wow, what fun! It that glitter icing on the globe?!
That cake is so cute! I can’t frost for anything, let alone draw people on it.
Thats an admirable thing you do. Im sure you mean a lot to those kids.
What a wonderful way to spend your morning. I’m sure it makes a huge difference to them. And your cake is absolutely adorable!
I bet the kids just love you! It sounds like an awesome organization.
wow…you have a super lovely smile! and, what a sweet cake! i have to say, i am really jealous that you decided to be vegan at such a young age, i wish i’d been that aware when i was 14. you rock.
Oh, you are SO awesome. I love people with bug hearts <3
