Chocolate oatmeal?! Is there really such a thing?

Oh my goodness, yes! In just 5 minutes, you can make this decadent-yet-good-for-you chocolate oatmeal for one.
It’s like dessert for breakfast!
I don’t let chance dictate whether my day gets off to a good start. I’d rather make sure it’ll be a good day… by consuming chocolate first thing.
Sometimes, it’s in the form of my Chocolate Banana Bread.
Or this ultra creamy Vegan Chocolate Mousse.
But often, it simply means mixing a spoonful of chocolate peanut butter into my morning oatmeal, or cutting a big hunk off a 100% chocolate bar to eat on the side of whatever breakfast I might be having.

It’s not possible to eat chocolate and frown at the same time.
Really, it’s not. Try it!
Am I wrong? Can you do it?
Well, then at least I got you to eat some chocolate!

What’s your favorite way to eat oatmeal?
Is there a specific way you always prepare it?
Or maybe you don’t like oatmeal at all?

This oatmeal sounds DELICIOUS! I tried it today with applesauce instead of a banana. It was pretty tasty ( I mean it had chocolate! of course it was!) But thinking about it with banana’s instead made my version seem so weak.
I LOVE Banana’s please don’t judge me!!! A horrible thing happened and I found out I have a food allergy to banana’s! NOT COOL.
So I definitely appreciate the non-banana links when possible! LOVE CCK
This is my new favorite breakfast 🙂 Thanks for all the “healthy junk”
I had some gluten free oats that I bought to make cookies with and I saw your pumpkin boatmeal on pinterest and decided to be brave and give it a try. Sadly, I have no pumpkin in the house but I did have everything for this recipe. I grew up hating cooked oatmeal and have never even attempted to make it until today. This was AMAZING! I cannot stop thinking about it or about having it again for breakfast tomorrow!!! I am so excited to say I like oatmeal! Question – I have 4 kiddos and want them to try this (I was bad and made it before they woke up!). Can this recipe be doubled or tripled? I’m telling you, I know squat about cooking oatmeal 🙂
I don’t see why not!
I just made this recipe for my breakfast. It wasn’t quite sweet enough for me (give me time – some things have to be taken slowly) but I didn’t want to dip into the sugar bowl. Instead, I added a small handful of butterscotch chips just before eating. That bit of extra sweetness and the combined chocolate/butterscotch flavor has me hooked! Thank you!
Oatmeal – ahhhhhh comfort in a bowl. Steel cut oats are my favorite! a little salt and water and cook – simple. BUT THEN… Sugarfree maple syrup. I’m diabetic and the oats are fabulous for diabetics and the sugarfree maple syrup lets me feel like a kid again! BEST breakfast for a fall or winter morning, and easy too!
I LOVE oatmeal…my favourite is banana oatmeal with carb chips and a giant blob of almond butter in the middle! Yum!
Love Rolled Oats, 1/2 cup Coconut Milk, 1 tsp coconut oil, Fresh Berries, Blackberries, blueberries, Cinnamon, CoCoa, Stevia, Microwave short on time – 2 minutes-
Katie, The 5-minute chocolate oatmeal sounds easy and good. I will be trying this recipe. I have never heard of chocolate oatmeal before, but will let you know the outcome.
Thanks
my gosh so excited to make one for myself 🙂
Yummy!! My breakfast-hating 4 year old inhaled your chocolate oatmeal!!! Thanks so much for a great blog!!
I’m one who does not like bananas, per se. But since they’re good for me I eat them anyway and I do like them peripherally (smoothies, banana splits, on my frosted flakes). So I thought I might like them in this since I like chocolate banana or strawberry banana milkshakes, but one whole banana gave this overpowering banana flavor for me. Being a Mexican, I added some cinammon because I adore Mexican hot chocolate. That helped and then I read your note about adding other fruits. I happened to have 7 raspberries left in the fridge, so I added 3 just to try it and it was glorious! So I added the rest and it was so much better. Delightful!! Next time I will try half banana.
It did make a huge serving. I have the opposite of your metabolism, I need very little fuel to live so I have to exercise more and watch my calories. oh well. Chocolate diet is harmless, eh? 🙂
Tried this recipe for breakfast this morning, and I gotta say I’m impressed. It tasted great and all the fiber and protein in there made me feel so energetic and full after eating it. 🙂
My only complaint is I felt the banana kind of overpowered the chocolate flavor (granted, I used a really large banana). I think the next time I try this recipe I’ll try using only half a banana and some other sweetener.
I love this! But instead of the bannana, I always use a bit of coconut oil. I don`t have enough healthy oils in my diet, so I`m always trying to add them in without a gross fat taste! I think it is slightly sweet, so it works in every way!
WHY have I never thought of this!! SO GOOD!
How many calories are in one serving of this???
Just made this this morning for my husband and I.
So easy! And delicious.
I used nunaturals which added the best sweetness and we added fresh coconut butter, which I think was crucial to the deliciousness of the whole recipe
