Oh my goodness, yes! In just 5 minutes, you can make this decadent-yet-good-for-you chocolate oatmeal for one.

It’s like dessert for breakfast!

I don’t let chance dictate whether my day gets off to a good start. I’d rather make sure it’ll be a good day… by consuming chocolate first thing.

Sometimes, it’s in the form of my Chocolate Banana Bread.

Or this ultra creamy Vegan Chocolate Mousse.

But often, it simply means mixing a spoonful of chocolate peanut butter into my morning oatmeal, or cutting a big hunk off a 100% chocolate bar to eat on the side of whatever breakfast I might be having.

It’s not possible to eat chocolate and frown at the same time.

Really, it’s not. Try it!

Am I wrong? Can you do it?

Well, then at least I got you to eat some chocolate!

One word- AMAZING! I absolutely loved this oatmeal! I followed the recipe but skipped the banana (allergic). It turned out great and I’m so inspired now- so many oatmeal possibilities swirling in my mind!

I’m eating this right now.. it’s delicious! And so easy too. I threw everything in a bowl and popped it in the microwave for 2 minutes… PERFECTION! Thank you so much 🙂

I just made a basic version of this! I thought I was so clever..I wanted a snack and just bought oatmeal to replace cold cereal…I’ve been eating it plain but I was feeling wild tonight! I added in a spoonful of cocoa and a little sugar…then as I was walking out of the kitchen I passed the bananas, gave it another thought and decided to add half of one… I;m eating it now and I decided to google chocolate oatmeal- sure enough… lol

I LOVE peanut butter oatmeal! My 2 picky toddlers eat it up too! I just prepare quick cooking oatmeal according to package instructions. For each serving of oatmeal, I add 1 serving of natural peanut putter, add a little splenda & some honey. Sometimes I saute some chopped apples in a little water & cinnamon, and add that to my PB oatmeal. And I always top it off with sugar free fruit preserves, whatever flavor ya like..so tasty! AND good for you 🙂

  7. Rachel (teacher-chef) says:

I just took about half of this, put it in a mug along with a well beaten egg. In the microwave for about a minute and a half and I made a super healthy mug cake to satisfy my craving without killing my good eating the rest of the day!!

  8. Ellie says:

is it okay if I don’t have non-dairy milk on hand (and i’m not vegan), so would it be alright to use low-fat milk?

    1. Chocolate-Covered Katie says:

Yes, you can use whatever milk you wish in this recipe. I’m orry for the confusion; in my more-recent recipes, I’m just writing “milk of choice” because people have different preferences! 🙂

  9. Ellie says:

This oatmeal recipe reminds me of my favorite cereal: “Triple Chocolate Cereal” (it even looks like your choco oatmeal!). Im sooo excited to try this oatmeal especially since I just ran out of my favorite cereal… chocolate oatmeal here I come 🙂
ps: the “Triple Chocolat Cereal” is made by BOKOMO, and its healthy with whole grains 🙂 (just in case you wanted to try)

  10. Trish @ MyBigFatBundt says:

This was SOOOO good! I added a spoonful of peanut butter and some chocolate chips (like you have pictured) to my bowl and allowed the chips to just sit there and get all melty for a few minutes. It reminded me of eating a chocolate-chocolate chip oatmeal cookie. Although I had the banana in there, I did end up adding a Tbsp. of xylitol for a bit of sweetness and a heaping pinch of salt. I am out of vanilla extract (which is a travesty in my house!!), but I had unsweetened vanilla almond milk which worked perfectly. YummO!
