Chocolate oatmeal?! Is there really such a thing?

Oh my goodness, yes! In just 5 minutes, you can make this decadent-yet-good-for-you chocolate oatmeal for one.
It’s like dessert for breakfast!
I don’t let chance dictate whether my day gets off to a good start. I’d rather make sure it’ll be a good day… by consuming chocolate first thing.
Sometimes, it’s in the form of my Chocolate Banana Bread.
Or this ultra creamy Vegan Chocolate Mousse.
But often, it simply means mixing a spoonful of chocolate peanut butter into my morning oatmeal, or cutting a big hunk off a 100% chocolate bar to eat on the side of whatever breakfast I might be having.

It’s not possible to eat chocolate and frown at the same time.
Really, it’s not. Try it!
Am I wrong? Can you do it?
Well, then at least I got you to eat some chocolate!

What’s your favorite way to eat oatmeal?
Is there a specific way you always prepare it?
Or maybe you don’t like oatmeal at all?

I also made a nut topping and broiled it on top:
Melt a 1/2 tsp or 1tsp and add cinnamon, brown sugar and walnuts.
Hello! I’m new to your site but may or may not have referred to you as a Godsend the other day thanks to your brownie batter pancakes! Could I sub strawberries for bananas and, if so, can I cook them all together like you mention with the banana? Thanks!
I just made this and it is delicious! I am not the biggest fan of oatmeal and don’t eat it that much but I like chocolate and decided to try this and it is so good. Also I tryed eating this and frowning at the same time and it did not work!
This recipe is like healthy fudge for breakfast. I could die of happy, but I’ll try not to!
HI Katie
Loving your recipes! Im after a recipe for protein bars for my diet. They need to be <10g of carbs and <30g of protein per 100g. Would you have a recipe? 🙂
Hi Zoe,
This is the only protein bar recipe I have at the moment: https://lett-trim.today/2013/04/04/homemade-peanut-butter-protein-bars/%3C/a%3E%3C/p%3E
Katie, could you give us the exact nutritional info for this recipe?
Could you make this in the evening, and leave it in a jar as “overnight oats”?
I’d love a recipe for “overnight oats” that includes chocolate milk (or chocolate almond milk) instead of plain milk.
Sorry, I have never tried it so I really don’t know.
I usually have cold overnight oatmeals for breakfast! I prepare them the night before though. I combine plain/chocolate full-cream milk/soy milk (the thicker the better for me!), a serving of dry oats (rolled oats, if there is!), slices of banana and/or slices of apple (opt. cinnamon), and I make sure that the oats are soaked in the milk before leaving them overnight in the fridge. By next morning, I’d have a bowl of creamy chocolate oatmeal with fruits ready for breakfast! 🙂
I make this chocolate oatmeal without the milk, but add some shredded coconut or sunflower seeds, chia seeds, cinnamon, and it reminds me of no-bake cookies! I’m not hungry for chocolate the rest of the day either. (Good for the diet!)
I love taking my uncooked oat and putting them in a food processor and grind them and cook them in milk and you get “cream of wheat”
