Chocolate oatmeal?! Is there really such a thing?

Oh my goodness, yes! In just 5 minutes, you can make this decadent-yet-good-for-you chocolate oatmeal for one.
It’s like dessert for breakfast!
I don’t let chance dictate whether my day gets off to a good start. I’d rather make sure it’ll be a good day… by consuming chocolate first thing.
Sometimes, it’s in the form of my Chocolate Banana Bread.
Or this ultra creamy Vegan Chocolate Mousse.
But often, it simply means mixing a spoonful of chocolate peanut butter into my morning oatmeal, or cutting a big hunk off a 100% chocolate bar to eat on the side of whatever breakfast I might be having.

It’s not possible to eat chocolate and frown at the same time.
Really, it’s not. Try it!
Am I wrong? Can you do it?
Well, then at least I got you to eat some chocolate!

What’s your favorite way to eat oatmeal?
Is there a specific way you always prepare it?
Or maybe you don’t like oatmeal at all?

This is very good with a couple modifications. I found 1.5 tbsp. cocao way too much and will cut by half next time. I also found the salt taste too overpowering and will cut that to a “pinch”. 40 grams is somewhere between 1/8 C. [28 gms] and 1/4 C. [56 gms] so I tried 3 tbsp. vs. 4 tbsp. I had to boil it for 10-12 minutes so will go to 1/4 C. next time.
Holy crap, this is amazing! I added some sugar-free chocolate protein powder to it, for added nutrition, and 1 tsp. of chia seeds. It’s incredible!
Stumbled upon your website while looking for frozen banana photo (!) and sooo glad I did!! You totally inspired me and now I have chocolate, almond, apple and ginger oats bubbling away on the stove….can’t wait! Thanks 🙂
Hey, You have the nutritional information for most of your other recipes. Could you enlighten me on this one? I need to know the nutritional information or weight watchers point plus value(new system). Thanks a bunch
I love this chocolate oatmeal but my favorite is a savory oatmeal. I cook in a pan onion, tomatoes and mushrooms with some spices like turmeric, sea salt, and cumin then add cooked oatmeal and finish with cilantro. Delicious!
Love your blog! I was searching for the black bean brownie recipe and found yours. Looks great. I started looking and decided I need to try a lot of these recipes! All these oatmeal recipes caught my eye right away.
BTW, my favorite oatmeal is quick steel-cut oats with sugar free orange marmalade (about a tablespoon) with sliced bananas on top. I also like to use strawberry jam (sugar free) with sliced strawberries on top. I make a big pot of oatmeal each week, then heat a small bowl of it in the microwave each morning. I add my jams and fruit then. Yum!
I have never liked an oatmeal recipe until your Chocolate Oatmeal came to me! I have tried many versions of oatmeal and usually get turned off by the texture. Being a chocolate lover, i was excited to try this recipe. Because of the texture aversion, i used a little less milk, maybe 1/2 C instead of 3/4 C and added some Peanut Butter powder. Wow! i am in heaven! thank you for making oatmeal something I can now enjoy!
Best breakfast ever!
I keep making this over and over again!
Is there a way to microwave this? I live in a dorm and can’t use a stove, but I love this oatmeal!
