Oh my goodness, yes! In just 5 minutes, you can make this decadent-yet-good-for-you chocolate oatmeal for one.

It’s like dessert for breakfast!

I don’t let chance dictate whether my day gets off to a good start. I’d rather make sure it’ll be a good day… by consuming chocolate first thing.

Sometimes, it’s in the form of my Chocolate Banana Bread.

Or this ultra creamy Vegan Chocolate Mousse.

But often, it simply means mixing a spoonful of chocolate peanut butter into my morning oatmeal, or cutting a big hunk off a 100% chocolate bar to eat on the side of whatever breakfast I might be having.

Chocolate oatmeal?! Oh my goodness, yes! Continue reading: https://lett-trim.today/2011/09/21/five-minute-chocolate-oatmeal/

It’s not possible to eat chocolate and frown at the same time.

Really, it’s not. Try it!

Am I wrong? Can you do it?

Well, then at least I got you to eat some chocolate!

  1. oatmeal says:

I wonder if this recipe would work with water if you didn’t have milk on hand–?
I had a ton of extra pears from an overactive pear tree and made pear sauce (diced pears, cinnamon & spices). This became a tasty way to make oatmeal; just add equal parts pear sauce for amount of liquid (or add extra water if you like your oatmeal voluminous).

    1. Chocolate-Covered Katie says:

It would definitely work, texture-wise. The taste would be a little different/less creamy, but it will definitely work with water!

  2. Kathy says:

I LOVE oatmeal, and I’m always thinking of ways to make it, ‘unusual’ (I’m thinking of making mint chocolate oatmeal soon).
I use to hate oatmeal since once, I ate a Peaches ‘n Cream oatmeal from Quaker (before I decided to eat healthy) and I threw up from that. Had a huge stomach ache then I hated it, but now I love it. I eat it for lunch now too.

  3. Charlie says:

I never added chocolate to my oats! Must be so good!

  4. Marianne says:

I’m pretty much all over the map with how I make my oatmeal. I’ll add whatever fruit, nut butter, spice, or even vegetable that moves me at the moment. I do always make it with some sort of milk (dairy, almond, coconut, etc), and I pretty much always add a splash of vanilla because I’m fancy like that. Otherwise, the sky is the limit!

  5. Amelia says:

Made this for breakfast yesterday with a side of fresh strawberries and blueberries (enjoying them as long as I can until winter comes and I won’t be able to dust up any decent fresh berries!) and I must say it was absolutely yummy. Definitely a breakfast to eat again 🙂

    1. Chocolate-Covered Katie says:

I’m so happy you tried it! I’m freezing the berries in preparation for winter… haha I’m like a hoarder. The other day I bought twelve cases of organic raspberries. They were $1 each!

  6. Stefani McCune says:

Now that sounds like oatmeal I can eat! I’m not a fan of oatmeal, but if it’s chocolate…then I MUST try it! Think I’ll make some for Saturday breakfast. Thanks for the fab idea!!

Awww thank YOU for such a sweet comment!!

  8. Janiek says:

I eat chocolate oats all the time! But, to make it even quicker, I use a small tbls of honey instead of a banana and just heat it up in the microwave. A quick bowl of chocolatey comfort!

  9. Melissa says:

Looks great, but my fave way of making oatmeal now is by baking it instead of cooking it on the stove. I’ve made a few different versions – one with banana, cocoa, peanut butter and agave and another with banana, apple sauce, dried currants, cocoa, spices and a little agave. I bake them in ramikins, so that everyone gets their own freshly-baked serving rather than having to scoop it out of a larger dish. Yum!

    This line?

“I don’t let chance dictate whether or not my day gets off to a good start. I’d rather make sure it’ll be a good day… by consuming chocolate, first thing.”

… makes me love you. In a platonic, non-stalkerish kind of way.

I can’t do oats, but I think that chocolate banana “ice cream” is a great breakfast.

    1. Chocolate-Covered Katie says:

LOL! And I agree about the chocolate banana ice cream… especially with peanut butter added in!
