Chewy homemade chocolate Nutella rice crispy treats!

Yesterday, I met a boy who said he hated chocolate.
It made me sad. I went home and ate two nutella rice krispy treats.
After that, I felt much better 😉

Do you know anyone who doesn’t like chocolate?
Although I don’t understand them, I love finding people who don’t like chocolate… it just means there is more for me.
These ultra chocolatey Nutella crispy treats could not be easier to make. Simply combine everything together, and press into an 8×8 pan. There’s no baking required, and you only need 6-7 ingredients!

Nutella Rice Crispy Treats
Ingredients
- 3 cups rice crispies
- 2 1/2 tsp pure vanilla extract
- 1/2 tsp salt
- 2/3 cup store bought or Homemade Nutella
- 1/2 cup agave or honey
- 1/4 cup cocoa powder OR chocolate protein powder
- optional melted chocolate for dipping
InstructionsÂ
- In a large bowl, mix all ingredients but the rice crispies. Melt to a stir-able consistency (either in the microwave or on the stove), then pour over the cereal and stir very well, making sure to coat all the crispies. Line an 8×8 pan with wax or parchment paper and spread the mixture evenly into the pan. Place a sheet of wax or parchment paper on top, then press down as firmly as you can. Really press it down! Freeze for at least a half hour before slicing, and store the homemade bars in the fridge or freezer. Dip bottoms in melted chocolate if desired.View Nutrition Facts

I’ve met several people allergic to cocoa, and I often just substitute carob and cut down on the sweetener. I don’t know what it is, but carob tastes sweeter to me than cocoa.
I think I may have to invest in a food processor. Vegan nutella is one calling I cannot ignore. It may or may not disappear in the time span of an hour. 😉
These look wonderful! My 22 year old daughter doesn’t care much for chocolate. I make up for her, though…I’ve had a life-long love affair with it. 😉
I eat very little chocolate because I don’t care for caffeine. But I’ve been making Katie’s recipes for the last year, with much success, substituting carob powder for cocoa powder. Also use her recipe for homemade chocolate chips but make carob chips.
Katie, I love how you can write literally 5 sentences and make me laugh. Its a skill. I kind of want to make these for breakfast.
Oh my, these look good!
Yes, sadly I’ve had friends who declared that they didn’t like chocolate – usually because they happened to get sick after eating it (due to flu or something, not the chocolate itself) . . . but why would one dislike chocolate for that reason? When I was little, I ate about 10 truffles in 10 minutes and . . . bad things . . . but I still like chocolate.
Guess they were probably on the fence with chocolate to begin with. :/ More for me! 😉
These sound fantastic! Rice crispies are the perfect treat and always remind me of baking when I was little. Healthy nutella sounds like the perfect addition 🙂
These look amazing!!!
I do know people who don’t like chocolate–it’s ridiculous!
I made thise last night and they are amazing! I used half Nutella and half peanut butter. Yum!
I actually have 2 friends who don’t like chocolate at all! Its the craziest thing.
