I’m not very fond of plane rides. But luckily this one (well, two– we had a short layover in London) was a nighttime flight, so I didn’t feel like a day was wasted. Mostly I passed the time on the flights by sleeping. But look what I picked up for lunch at Heathrow Airport:
This hummus, carrot, and mixed green sandwich (on whole-grain bread) made for a terrific portable meal. And I was impressed that it (along with many of the other foods for sale in the airport) had a little “V” on the box to denote its vegetarian-ness.
I know this was a short post, but I’m rushing off to organize some stuff in my new apartment. School is starting again TOO SOON! What happened to summer???
London (GB) in general is GREAT for posting V related info (sometimes too great…it takes the mystery of label reading away!).

Just a note as I live in the UK that it’s a law that all foods must be labelled as ‘suitable for vegetarians’ (marked with a V) or ‘not suitable for vegetarians’. Unfortunately they haven’t yet extended the classification to vegan – though some foods are endorsed with the Vegan Society symbol.
If you ever go to Boots again to get another sandwich, try the ‘Bugsy’ kind in the green triangle box – hummous and spinach and carrots, oh my!

I remember so many of the sandwiches in Scotland and the UK were marked just like this. They are very vegan/vegetarian friendly. It definitely makes reading labels easier. 🙂
When I first looked at that pic. and saw “shapers” I thought it was a brand of pantyhose.
Good to see they have vegan options at the airport in London!
