I’m not very fond of plane rides. But luckily this one (well, two– we had a short layover in London) was a nighttime flight, so I didn’t feel like a day was wasted. Mostly I passed the time on the flights by sleeping. But look what I picked up for lunch at Heathrow Airport:
This hummus, carrot, and mixed green sandwich (on whole-grain bread) made for a terrific portable meal. And I was impressed that it (along with many of the other foods for sale in the airport) had a little “V” on the box to denote its vegetarian-ness.
I know this was a short post, but I’m rushing off to organize some stuff in my new apartment. School is starting again TOO SOON! What happened to summer???

That’s awesome that you go to school with her! I’ve been totally obsessed with the olympics lately!
Good luck getting ready for school! It’s coming too soon!:(
I agree that school is coming way too soon! That’s so cool that you go to school with Nastia Liukin and very exciting that you found that sandwich for lunch…with a “V” on it!!
I wish Nastia would come visit TCU, haha! I can’t wait to hear about the rest of your travels…that sandwich sounds delicious!! Rest up, girl, and good luck with moving everything back in your apartment!
mmm, hummus and carrot! that’s such a good combination! I wish those sandwiches were everywhere to find. Life would be a lot easier!
It’s always amazing to me that something so simple and delicious (like hummus and carrot) is so hard to find as a “convenience” food! Nice find!! 🙂
PS-I am totally in awe of Nastia Liukin.
awww – i hope you see her! i bet you totally will!
and very cool on some veggie options at the airport! good to know there are some available! 🙂
Nastia is amazing! When you finally meet her, please tell her I watched her win the gold medal.
I know classes start soon, but I hope you’ll find a few minutes to share some more pictures of your trip. The ship is beautiful.
Wow that is so cool that you go to school with Nastia! She will probably be a lot easier to spot around campus because now she probably will have an entourage ;o) She seems so sweet and she did such an amazing job last night!
And that airport option is one of the best I’ve ever seen!
Good to know that planes have veggie meals. I’ve never flown longer than an hour, so I’ve never eaten on the plane. Actually, I’ve only flown once. But when I do again, I hope I’m on a flight with veg options.
Oh back to school time!! I can't wait to hear about your trip & hope to see some pics, too! Next time you come to France, you have to come see me!
that’s really cool that there’s an olympic celebrity at your school!!
school is definitely here too soon! boo the end of summer :/
hope you have a wonderful night!
Speaking of the Olympics, Michael Phelps took some classes at Umich and was a volunteer swim coach. I saw him at few football games too (his ears amplified the sound in our section, haha). However, he doesn’t have the *best* rep at our school, so it wasn’t as impressive as it sounds. 🙁
That’s so cool that you go to school with someone so well known and admired throughout the world right now!
An airport is the last place I’d expect to find vegan-friendly food, so how awesome for you 🙂
That sounds delish. I read your older posts about the oatmeal and tried it for myself – fantastic! I never would have thought about it. I have it with my dinner every now and then. Great staple item =) Thanks for the tip girl
K-K-K-K-Katie! Welcome back! You were missed 🙂 Can’t wait to hear your feedback on the cruise (and how you fared with international flights, in light of the current state of air travel.)
That is very cool about your schoolmate Nastia; I bet SMU throws a parade for her! She was actually my favorite above Shawn Johnson — Shawn is cute and oh-so-talented, but Nastia is a beauty and just cool as ice. Can you BELIEVE her mom was MIA when she won the gold?! Over here on the East Coast, our celeb is Ryan Lochte — a hometown boy that partied with my brother all through high school!
That is really cool that you and Nastia Liukin go to the same school!
