Yesterday morning’s weather was abominable.
Abominable.
Like the snowman.
Thankfully, breakfast made up for the weather.
Warm, cinnamony Snickerdoodle Oatmeal.
Dear spellchecker, “cinnamony” is too a word. Don’t you know anything??
Usually, rainy days are reserved for staying inside with a warm drink and a good book. Yesterday, however, I had somewhere special to go. October is “Adopt a Pet” month, and even though I’m not over the death of my dog (and I never will be), I know I can offer a good home to a lonely puppy.
Can you believe this guy was scheduled to be euthanized?
He looked so sad in his crate; it would’ve been impossible to not take him home. If you’re ever thinking of buying a dog, please consider adoption so that adorable pups like this one won’t be put down.
I really want to call him Batman. (Check out those ears!) But my sister informs me this would be cruel and I must give him a proper name. So far, he-who-must-not-be-named seems to be getting along with Henry, my other dog. Henry pretty much ignores the puppy.
Grumpy Henry.

Sooo cute!!! And I don’t think you should listen to your sister…I think Batman fits perfectly and it’s a cute name!!! 🙂
i really hope you name the pup batman! the name is perfect, and i think it’s such a cute name! i love your puppy!!! i really want one, but i still live at home and my parents are not too keen on a dog right now.
anyway!!!!!!! what is that dollop of fabulousity on top of your oatmeal?
LOL it’s just coconut milk ice cream, for the photoshoot. It’s so hard to make oatmeal look pretty!
Your new pup is adorable! I’m so glad you adopted him! Adoption is so the best way to go 🙂
We have one puppy, Maggie Mae. Well, technically she’s not a pup anymore, but I think she is 🙂 We actually got her from the streets when she was dumped near our apartment complex with a box that said ‘free puppies’. Maggie was the mama and we never found her pups. When we took her to the vet they told us she wasn’t quite a year old and must have gotten pregnant on her first heat. She’s a crazy little thing, we like to warn people she’s from the streets 😉 but she’s the best 15 pound furball ever!
I have to admit, I’m not a dog person. We had cats growing up. No dogs. But…that little guy looks soooo adorable! Congrats 🙂
My two cents .. call him BATMAN! I think it’s perfect 🙂 I got my mongrel from the pound (I live in NZ)
congratulations on your new puppy! He’s beautiful. And your oatmeal looks beautiful too.
Major kudos to you for adopting. Some people are convinced that if they don’t get a tiny puppy, it will never bond to them, which is totally untrue. I got my dog (he was about 4 at the time) from a shelter about 6 years ago, and he has been the gift that keeps on giving and couldn’t be any more closely bonded to me if I had bottle-fed him from birth. Congrats on your new addition!
awwww congrats on the new family member!
yay congrats! All of my fuzzy family members have been rescues. At the moment, I have Apollo, my Great Dane. He is a big, needy pile of love. I also share a rescued English Bulldog named Chauncey, and some cute rescued ferrets with my ex. They live with him, but I get to see them every few weeks.
Hey Katie!
Just got back from Punta Cana – I just saw your blog! OMG!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I love him. You are a girl after my own heart….
He looks like a Pablo to me, or Julio (Pronounced Wholio), or even Coaco…maybe even Panda (Black and White?)
I would personally just call him Bubba Boy – again….LOVE HIM.
YOu rock Missy.
