Meet my new Puppy!

Yesterday morning’s weather was abominable.

Abominable.

Like the snowman.

Thankfully, breakfast made up for the weather.

Warm, cinnamony Snickerdoodle Oatmeal.

Dear spellchecker, “cinnamony” is too a word. Don’t you know anything??

Usually, rainy days are reserved for staying inside with a warm drink and a good book. Yesterday, however, I had somewhere special to go. October is “Adopt a Pet” month, and even though I’m not over the death of my dog (and I never will be), I know I can offer a good home to a lonely puppy.

Can you believe this guy was scheduled to be euthanized?

He looked so sad in his crate; it would’ve been impossible to not take him home. If you’re ever thinking of buying a dog, please consider adoption so that adorable pups like this one won’t be put down.

I really want to call him Batman. (Check out those ears!) But my sister informs me this would be cruel and I must give him a proper name. So far, he-who-must-not-be-named seems to be getting along with Henry, my other dog. Henry pretty much ignores the puppy.

Grumpy Henry.

he’s so cute! my mum doesn’t like animals so i’ve never had a pet of my own which is hard as i’m a complete animal lover!

Why is Batman cruel? – Batman was a superhero!! surely thats a compliment!

I think you should name him batman – it totally suits him! we have a little black shih tzu named Wilbur and everyone didn’t think I should name him that but I’m glad I did because he is totally a Wilbur.

Awwww, so cute!!! I love the name Batman. We have 4 rescues; 2 dogs and 2 kittens. Winston, a white collie, was rescued from a puppy mill in the south, Gaby, a sheltie was inherited from one of my Mom’s friends when she passed away. The 2 kittens, Darla and Spanky, were adoped from a rescue group. I love them even more than chocolate 🙂

Congratulations on the addition to your family. Your puppy is adorable. I have a black and tan , mostly black chihuahua. We called him batman at first but did not really fit. His name is Bruce.
He is a tough little guy. That covers all the tough guys, right? Bruce Wayne, Bruce Banner, Bruce Willis, Bruce Lee, and Bruce the Chihuahua all tough guys. 😉

Ahh so incredibly cute! Same story with my dog (who I miss so much right now since i’m at school!), she has the most adorable face ever, and was scheduled to be euthanized the day after we adopted her. Aside from being an amazing addition to the family, I feel so great to have saved such a sweet, innocent animal!

Congratulations!! What a cutie! I have a lab mix that we rescued from the pound when he was a puppy. I can’t believe they were going to euthanize that sweet dog!

You could call your dog Bruce Wayne instead of Batman? Great idea Sherry!

Awwwww…I love my “puppies.” Maybe not so much puppies anymore as they are 18 months old and 60lbs of Husky energy, but I can’t imagine life without them. This picture made me want to cuddle “batman” right now!

    Oh my god,he’s absolutely ADORABLE!
I’ve got a cocker spaniel and named him “Jazz” – without any proper reason,I just liked the name 😀

    Oh my GOD SO CUTE!!
I’m so jealous, and would love to adopt a cat or dog from a shelter. Unfortunately, living situation won’t allow for it now… living with 5 other housemates and we all have busy school schedules. Sigh. 🙁 but eventually I will. It’s so gratifying knowing that you’re saving a life, providing a better one and hey, it’ll be a benefit to yourself. Win-win situation eh?

PS Snickerdoodle oatmeal sounds out of this world. Like most of your recipes. Amaaaazang!

Bless you, Katie, for saving that sweet puppy! I hope he/she brings you many happy years.

We had three dogs, but mine died in July 2010 of cancer, and we lost another one 3 weeks ago, again to cancer. We have one left who is 12 years old. I also have two cats, ages 14 & 15, so our house is the geriatric ward for pets.
