Yesterday morning’s weather was abominable.
Abominable.
Like the snowman.
Thankfully, breakfast made up for the weather.
Warm, cinnamony Snickerdoodle Oatmeal.
Dear spellchecker, “cinnamony” is too a word. Don’t you know anything??
Usually, rainy days are reserved for staying inside with a warm drink and a good book. Yesterday, however, I had somewhere special to go. October is “Adopt a Pet” month, and even though I’m not over the death of my dog (and I never will be), I know I can offer a good home to a lonely puppy.
Can you believe this guy was scheduled to be euthanized?
He looked so sad in his crate; it would’ve been impossible to not take him home. If you’re ever thinking of buying a dog, please consider adoption so that adorable pups like this one won’t be put down.
I really want to call him Batman. (Check out those ears!) But my sister informs me this would be cruel and I must give him a proper name. So far, he-who-must-not-be-named seems to be getting along with Henry, my other dog. Henry pretty much ignores the puppy.
Grumpy Henry.

AND HE is Chocolate too 🙂
you could name him BEAN, like a chocolate bean cause he is so tiny and he is dark like chocolate
Get out of town… I ate your recipe for snickerdoodle oatmeal yesterday, too! Delicious. Also, I totally love the name Henry… good choice. 🙂
ahhh he’s so cute!
Mmm your oatmeal looks delicious! Cinnamon sugar is just an awesome combination 🙂 And congrats on your new puppy! He’s so adorable! I actually kind of like the name batman for him!
AWWWWWW!!!!!!
Did you post any food today? All I can remember is that adorable puppy!
As for pets, I have the world’s dumbest cat (sweet though) and a chinchilla that someone dumped at my building more than a year ago. I couldn’t bring myself to drop him at the SPCA myself because they had 100 of them at the time! Looks like I may be getting him a companion soon…fingers crossed!
I think it is wonderful that you brought this little guy home with you. He obviously loves you already.
I think Batbaby would be a good name for him!
I had a black kitty once called Napalm.
Love the pic of you and your new furbaby!
Batman is the PERFECT name! <3 ….I just got a doy last Thursday. Same kind of situation. The city was going to put her down and I just couldn't handle the thought, so I now have a new dog/puppy too!
i couldn’t have said no to those eyes either. that’s why i don’t go to shelters, pounds, or pet stores on days when they have dogs or cats out for adoption. it just breaks my heart. we have a full house. one cat (rescued), one dog (rescued), 2 lovebirds (1rescued), 2 cockatiels (1 rescued), a male german roller canary who fills the house with his songs, 5 owl finches, 1 sun conure (rescued from an extremely abusive situation), 1 java rice finch, and last but certainly not least our house duck Dodger also rescued. she wears little harnesses that hold her diapers in place and swims in our spare bathroom tub. she is our darling. of our close and extended family no one has embraced the vegetarian/vegan lifestyle as my husband and i did 31 years ago, except our son and my husbands niece. our daughter couldn’t wait to have her first hamburger after she turned 18. so when family is in town and we go out to eat we know that everyone else will be eating meat. i have never let it bother me until about 1 1/2 years ago when my dad and step-mother were in town. they had taken us to a fancy restaurant. i hadn’t been paying attention when everyone else ordered. apparently my step-mother had ordered a plate with numerous meats. when the waitress brought it she started pointing out which meat was which and then she said this is your duck. at that point i lost it. i thought i might throw up. it was as if someone had come to the table and said, this is your cat or dog. she was going to eat duck in front of me. i still can’t believe anyone could be so rude and unfeeling.
Wow.
That is amazing Terri Sue. How do you do it?
Well, I love all pets. The thing is, I can only handle so much. At one time (when I was young of course) we had 4 poochies (all rescued/found/one was given to us in a snap by a cruel owner) and 3 kitty-cats …. two were found roaming. Martini we adopted from a shelter when she was I think 2 months old. She lived to be 17!
Good luck to you Terri Sue. You are enjoying it all!
Awwww…so cute! I totally vote for naming him Batman! 🙂 I adopted my “fur baby” from a No Kill Shelter almost 8 years ago. She is the best dog! I don’t know what I would do without her!
There’s nothing wrong with naming him Batman. That’s the name of a superhero, perfect for a super dog. An example of a cruel name is when my sister wanted to name her duck “roast.” At least that didn’t happen. He ended up being called Hercules, which was funny because he was so small.
I had problems on a couple occasions posting comments. Fingers crossed that this one works 🙂
