Forget chocolate.
Okay, no wait.
I didn’t say that!
You didn’t hear that! Don’t ever ever ever forget chocolate. Never ever. NEVER!!!
But maybe…
Maybe just put the chocolate aside for today (or for an hour; however long you can last), and try out this peanut butter twist on the classic chocolate-covered strawberries:
They’re like all-natural peanut butter and jelly bites. ![]()
And very stupid-simple to make.
Peanut Butter Strawberries
(gluten-free and can be sugar-free)
- 4 tbsp peanut butter (or another nut butter, or sunbutter)
- 1 tsp virgin coconut oil (see “nutrition link” below, for substitution notes)
- stevia drops to taste, or 1.5 tsp agave or maple syrup
- fresh strawberries (or bananas, or other foods to dip)
Have a parchment or wax-lined baking sheet ready to go (and clear space in your freezer). Put all ingredients, except berries, in a cereal-sized bowl, and stir until well-combined. If your nut butter is from the fridge, you might need to heat it a little for easier stirring. Dip berries (or bananas, or pretzels, truffles, or whatever you desire), set onto the tray, and immediately freeze. Due to the nature of coconut oil, these are best kept cold.
Maybe, just maybe, you can eat a chocolate bar on the side.
Question of the Day:
What’s your favorite brand of peanut butter?
Or do you prefer something else, like almond butter? I usually buy Whole Foods 365 organic peanut butter: it’s unsweetened, lightly-salted, and cheap enough that I don’t have to feel guilty going through a ton of jars!
Link of the Day:

Oh and I prefer Almond butter, my all time favorite. However, I like peanut butter, too! There has to be a change every now and then!
I have two favorites:
1. Fresh ground peanuts – nothing else. Publis and Fresh Market carry it. If I have a sweet craving, I’ll stir in some organic honey.
2. Peanut Wonder – it’s already a bit sweeter and creamier than regular peanut butter (with WAY less fat and calories), so I think I’ll use it for this recipe.
Thanks Katie!
I love love love this idea!! I don’t have strawberries in my dorm, but I do have bananas and I would love to try this out tomorrow morning with breakfast!
Funny, I was just going to ask which brand of peanut butter you used. I usually use skippy or jif’s naturals. I haven’t tried any other kinds of nut butter(including coconut!) We have a couple of the brands in the picture for almond butter, but I’ve yet to see any others.
strawberries and peanut butter — perfect!! great combo!
Fabulous idea! Grain-free PB&J-ish. YUMMMMY! 🙂
What a great idea! I love combining fiber-licious fruits with sweet tasting toppings – like peanut butter. Yum!
fave brand? JIF organic. don’t judge 🙂
I’m embarrassed to say this but I’m kind of a peanut butter snob. A tea one too but that’s another topic all on its own. Ha!! As far as the peanut butter thing, if its not all natural and/ or organic then BLAHH!! I don’t like anything added to my peanut butter. Oh and if I haven’t said this b4, I love your blog and can’t wait to make those pumpkin balls in the previous post. We are gluten and dairy free so it’s another fun one I can easily change.
I love creamy Jiff All Natural!! so good!
So simple, but I can’t wait to try it! I saw the picture and was like… how did she make it creamier (and coconut oil makes so much delicious sense :D). I really like chocolate almond butter (MarthaNartha or something like that), but my husband likes Sun Butter so we get that more often.
That sounds SO good. I must have these now! They’re so quick too. What if you dipped them in chocolate afterward? I think I just died.
Oh wow, This is so simple and sounds so lush!
Its kinda of like PB and Jelly. But just the strawberry – not the jam.
This is idea, Thanks Katie xx
Do we get fall recipes in the fall?
Anything’s good dipped in pb. My personal fave is sunbutter. I also really like better than peanut butter and pb2.
I wish I could say I love all brands but some of them are simply gross. And sometimes even good brands make a bad product. The white chocolate pb of Peanut Butter and Co. is one of the worst I’ve ever tried and I paid a small fortune for it here in Japan. I think my favorite is Justin’s but I can’t find it anymore 🙁
