The Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough Latte

Liquid Cookie Dough.

Imagine this: It’s a cold winter’s morning, and you hurry into the local coffee shop for a steaming-hot latte to counter the chill. The barista behind the counter asks, “Would you like a plain latte? Or would you prefer a rich and creamy ‘dessert’ latte that tastes like a warm chocolate-chip cookie, straight out of the oven?”

Which would you choose?

Is that even a question?

Who wouldn’t choose the liquid cookie dough?

What are some good latte flavor ideas?

What about a Coconut Cream Pie Latte? Or a French Toast Latte? For my dream latte, I think I’ll have to be boring and say: Chocolate Brownie Latte. You just can’t ever go wrong with chocolate.

(Serves 1-2)

  • 3/4 cup creamer (such as Silk) or canned coconut milk (180g)
  • 3/4 cup milk of choice, or 3/4 cup more creamer or coconut milk (180g)
  • 1 tbsp brown sugar or coconut brown sugar (8g)
  • stevia (or more brown sugar) to taste. Amount will depend on the sweetness of the milk you use.
  • 1/8 tsp salt
  • 1/2 tsp pure vanilla extract
  • Optional: 1/2 tsp instant coffee granules. It’s not technically a “latte” without coffee… but really, who cares?
  • Optional: mini chips, whipped topping, eggless cookie dough

Combine first six ingredients in a small pot or microwave-safe dish, stir, and heat until desired temperature is reached. Either use a coffee frother to make foam, or whisk the milk while it’s on the stove, then hold the foam back with a spoon as you pour the latte into a mug and add the foam at the very end. Garnish if desired, and enjoy!

Not sure how this is supposed to taste like cookie dough…it seems like a regular latte to me. Should there be other flavourings added, like cocoa maybe? But then that would be a hot chocolate!!! *sigh*
    P.s. i love that mug!

  2. Tiffany Rankin says:

You are such a doll! Where did you get those chocolate chip latte mugs?

    1. Chocolate-Covered Katie says:

      Pearl Mart NYC.

      1. Jessica says:

Thank you ^.^ I found the mugs online.

        1. Tiffany says:

Jessica-did you find them at pearl mart NYC? I looked, but could not find them?

  3. Lisa says:

I like to use my VitaMix to make hot chocolate and non-coffee lattes ( Pero and Teeccino are amazing non-caffinated options.) I just warm up the milk or water seperately, and mix all the other ingredients in the VitaMix and then blend. The drink ends up being really well blended, and it creates a lot of foam. So you don’t have to have a specialty appliance to get the Starbuck’s effect! All my kids’ friends think I make THE BEST hot cocoa, so it must be working 😉

  4. Katie @ Oh Shine On says:

How is this latte only 115 calories if you used creamer?

    1. Alanna says:

It says in the nutrition info that’s for 1 cup (about half the recipe).

  5. Katreece@thechocolateaddict says:

what a great idea, and so easy, you could experiment with flavored Torani syrups for some other delish options as well. 😉 Thanks Katie! love you!

I was an avid reader, and made a couple of your recipes with some success, so I hope you’ll just take this comment as general feedback. I would read more and become more interested if you branched out a bit and tried something other than the familiar combinations. Perhaps some more creative recipes? Different cultural influences? For example – healthy mole sauce, the trendy chocolate chili combination, chocolate covered speculoos cookies? Etc. Maybe you have done some of these, but the overall point is that for me your blog is lacking in some spice, cultural experience, adventure, passion etc. that I seek to gain some inspiration for my kitchen. Thanks for the recipes to date!

    1. Chocolate-Covered Katie says:

Thanks for the feedback. I have some multicultural recipes going in the cookbook as well as many on my to-try list. I try to keep some of the recipes basic to appeal to a broader audience, and then THEY can change the recipes up (such as changing a basic chocolate cupcake into a Mexican chocolate one, etc.).

  9. Julie says:

We tried this this afternoon – just what we needed to warm up! It tastes awesome! We were all sort of craving a milkshake, but it’s far too cold, and this was perfect! I added a bit of cinnamon instead of the coffee for the kids. Thanks for the recipe!

  10. Tami @Nutmeg Notebook says:

    What about a Chai latte?

  11. Maiya says:

    It’s incredible!

  12. Alyssa says:

    Oh.my.goodness….must try this!

  13. Amy McCann says:

In an attempt to keep my weight down I have cut most latte’s out. SO SAD! But if I splurge it’s coconut, gingerbread, cinnamon and pumpkin. My question is:
Can we determine peoples personalities by their coffee/latte preference? My hubs is a coffee with my coffee kinda guy, but he does like pumpkin and mocha. I’m always interested in the “why” of people. Just wondering if anyone has taken the time to determine that!

  14. Hannah Harper says:

Oh, my goodness! This sounds perfect on those days where you need something to convince you to get out of bed! Or when you need something on your desk while you write! Or when you want something to drink and eat while you read and AWESOME book, but you don’t have time to make cookies! Or really anytime, I presume.
I think that a S’More latte would be heaven, or a treacle latte… but that would be more a gingerbread latte… How about a green tea latte? Or a fruit latte?

  15. Kacey says:

I have to admit, I was totally skeptical that this would taste like cookie dough…but it totally does! I just made myself a cup, and oh my god, so delicious. I was all out of soy creamer and coconut milk, so I just used all soy milk and it was still really good. I can’t wait to try it again after I go grocery shopping though!
