Will You Marry Me?

Do you ever plan your dream wedding?

Really, I don’t need a big wedding affair that costs tons of money. Just as long as I’m with the man I love… oh, and as long as there’s chocolate involved.

And maybe some cute and festive Strawberry Shortcakes.

Vegan at a Wedding

One of the reasons weddings are on my mind is that my old college roomie just got married. It’s so weird, seeing my friends—people my age—getting married. Makes me feel like perhaps I should be thinking about marriage too… No, never mind! I’m still young. There’s plenty of time to be married! 🙂

As it turned out, the venue was well-equipped with vegan fare. Above is my first plate: balsamic portabella mushrooms and roasted asparagus, steamed broccoli, and fresh fruit. I also had a plate with hummus and whole-wheat flatbread. And then another veggie dish. The asparagus and raspberries were so good!

Above, with my second veggie dish. This one also had jicama, which I finally learned to say correctly: it’s pronounced hi-ca-ma. Like hiccups!

What would be your dream proposal? Or, how did your significant other (or you) propose?

Mine: He writes out “Will you marry me” in chocolate syrup.

Or maybe he stuffs the ring inside a chocolate cupcake. Heck, forget the ring. I’ll just take the chocolate. What’s so great about diamonds anyway?

I think about getting married all the time! Mostly what kind of dress I’d want, though. I love Say Yes to the Dress 🙂

I used to, but a girl like me will have a hard time getting married…at least here. I’m quite a bit young though, so now I’m more focused on getting people interested. Congrats to the roomie

Ha Ha Ha. This made me laugh. My dad proposed to my mom by saying:
“What do you think about making this official?”
(But they’ve been married 27 years so they’re doing something right!)

LOL so maybe a bad proposal is a good thing? My parents have been married 31!

So there was a show that we both loved and there was a line “Fiance? Is that a type of pickle?”… so he had a pickle brought to our table after dinner (we were on a cruise with my parents) and got down on one knee and asked if I would be his pickle :).

Was no surprise, we’d been together 7 years and we’d picked out the ring together, I just told him he’d have to do the official proposal thing in some ceremonious way. It was super adorable.

My dress ended up way different than I expected (I had a polynesian themed wedding just so I DIDN’T have to do the white dress then, and I ended up with a white dress from David’s bridal, heh), but I loved it and wouldn’t have changed anything about the day…

We were together for 6 years before my husband proposed on the beach during a trip to FL. It was perfect, he stood behind me with his arms around my waist, watching the waves as the sun started to set and then the question, “Babe, you know I love you more than anything else in this world right?” Me- “Of course.” His arms slipped away from my sides and when I turned around he was down on one knee proposing…Immediate tears, I could barely see the ring! Somehow I managed to choke out a, “YES!” One of my favorite memories!!

My fiance proposed to me last year in the park where we had our first kiss (when we were 15)! There was about 2 ft of snow on the ground so he had dig a little hole in order to get down on one knee… Its probably my most favorite thing ever 🙂

I’m not even engaged yet, but I can’t wait to plan a vegan wedding! It will be totally non-traditional and simple and possibly a bit hippie-ish…outside, sunrise, green dress (bare feet?), breakfast oatmeal bar to follow at the reception. 😀 I’m not even a hippie in real life, I swear, I just hate all the fuss/stress around traditional weddings!

I’m starting to see my friends get married too, and I must admit, it’s got me thinking if I should be walking down the aisle too. Only time will tell…

I love looking at dresses in wedding shops! I also have fun planning the menu too. I want my proposal to be something private, yet crazy. Like, bungee jumping. Or going on a really long run to somewhere beautiful and he would propose at sunrise (you know, because we will wake up at 5 am to go running!)
Thanks for reminding us about hug a vegan dessert! I’m embarassed to say that I totally forgot. It gives me an excuse to bake though, and I’m not arguing with that!
