Ingredients

  • 1 cup mashed banana or roasted sweet potato
  • 1/4 cup cocoa powder or raw cacao powder
  • 1/2 cup almond butter or allergy friendly sub
  • 3 tbsp pure maple syrup or honey or agave
  • 1/8 tsp salt
  • 1 cup crushed granola
  • optional 1/2 cup mini chocolate chips

Instructions

  • If almond butter is not soft, gently heat until stir-able. Line an 8×8 pan with wax or parchment paper. Crush the granola before measuring 1 cup. Mix the crushed granola with 1/4 cup of the almond butter, 1 tbsp of the maple syrup, and the optional mini chips. Spread into the pan. Press down firmly using a second sheet of parchment. Combine all remaining ingredients until smooth–it's easiest in a food processor but can also be done by hand. Spread over the crust. Freeze to set. Cut into bars or squares. Store leftover bars in the freezer.

These look so amazing! Do you know if they sell the granola brand in Whole Foods? I’d love to try it but I don’t really like buying online.
    Thanks for sharing the recipe!

Hi Michelle, what area are you in? They do sell in some stores, mostly in the New York area. There’s a product locator on their homepage: https://eatonhemp.com/

I live in the New York area! I guess I have no excuse but to make these bars now ?.

        1. n says:

do they sell it in boston?

          1. Jason Sanford says:

It doesn’t look like they do based on the store locator, but if you order online within the next 48 hours, they do offer free shipping 🙂

Hi. Please consider putting grams when you add stuff like 1 cup, 1/2 cup. So on so forth. your older recipes all use to have them and these ones do not and the cup standard is just to vague when it comes to baking. Or if you could provide a link here to any recipe where the grams are given, just as key. Would appreciate it

    1. Jason Sanford says:

Hi! Most ingredients should give a reference on the package. Just look at the top of the nutrition facts. For these, 1 cup mashed banana or sweet potato is about 240g, 1/4 cup cocoa is 20g, 1/2 cup nut butter is 120g, 3 tbsp syrup is 45g, and it’s a full large package of crushed granola if using the one Katie used. If you ever need to know gram measurements of something that isn’t easily looked up, just message here and we can probably provide that info!

How long do you freeze these to set?

    Making this week! ??

  4. Alex says:

Is there a way to buy just one package? I’d like to try them, but I don’t want to buy three if I don’t even know if I like the product yet.

    1. Lauren says:

      Same 🙁

      1. Holly says:

I was able to find one of the flavors in a single package for sale on amazon, but sadly not the chocolate flavor. I’ll try the recipe with a different chocolate granola and hopefully they’ll be just as delicious. The photos are superb!

    2. Christine says:

I was coming on here to ask the same question. Do you think if I bought the Cashew Coconut Mango on amazon and used that flavor instead, would it still be good in this recipe, or does it need to be chocolate?

  5. Dee says:

Oh my they look SO GOOD! I just started the Whole Foods Plant Based diet and am excited to see this because it fits the requirements (no oil, no refined sugar, no dairy. etc.) I will definitely be trying this one. Please post more WFPB recipes!

  6. Jacqui says:

I must be living under a rock lol because I’ve never heard of that brand and I live in NYC! I’ll have to pick some up the next time I go to Fairway.
On an unrelated subject, I made your black bean brownies for the first time last night and they exceeded all expectations! I gave one to my boyfriend and he kept saying “These are vegan?!?” ?

Do you think if I bought the Cashew Coconut Mango on amazon and used that flavor instead, would it still be good in this recipe, or does it need to be chocolate?

    1. Jason Sanford says:

That sounds like it would be fantastic too!

  8. Nina says:

These look fantastic and I am going to try and make them.

  9. S says:

I don’t mind if you plug products if you genuinely think they’re awesome, but could you please be up front about having affiliate sponsors in your post? When you click on that link, the URL reveals that it is indeed an affiliate ad.

    1. Jason Sanford says:

Nope, not an affiliate ad :).
The company asked if we could use the tracking code so they can see how many people visit their site from Katie’s, but Katie makes no money from sales of the product and we also aren’t able to see how many people click over on our end.

Was she paid to promote the product, though?

These look amazing! I think they may be my new favourite dessert (based on the ingredients and the pictures, and how simple they are!). can’t wait to make them this week! 🙂 who doesn’t like the chocolate, banana and nut butter combo?! 🙂 i’m thinking my hubby will even like these, even though he doesn’t like oatmeal/oats…
