1. To make the healthy chocolate mousse, first peel apples and slice into medium size cubes, discarding the seeds, skins, and cores.
2. Place fruit in a small saucepan with 1/4 cup of water. Cover and bring to a boil over medium heat.
3. As soon as it starts to boil, reduce the heat to low and continue to steam about 20 minutes, until apples are soft and tender.
4. Drain fully, then set the cooked apples aside.
5. Chop chocolate bars finely. Carefully melt in the microwave or in a double boiler on the stove top.
6. Blend the apples, optional salt, and chocolate sauce together with a blender, food processor, or immersion blender until completely smooth.
7. Pour into cups or small glasses, and garnish with fresh berries, sliced banana, whip cream, or dark chocolate shavings.
8. Store leftovers covered in the refrigerator for up to five days.
